Rice Bowl and Bird by Terry Grant

Terry Grant studied art at Idaho State University, with a degree in Fine Arts. She is a working graphic designer as well as fiber artist. She has had work accepted in the Association of Pacific NW Quilters show, as well as “Off the Beaten Path” a show of Oregon fiber artists held at the Coos Art Museum in December 2004. She sells her work in the Portland area and has work published in Quilters Newsletter Magazine and in the book, “Within Sacred Circles: Meditations and Mandala Quilts” by Susan Towner-Larsen.

Rice Bowl and Bird
$225

Commercial fabrics
Painting, fused appliqué, machine quilting

I am interested in manipulating commercially printed fabrics with the use of painting and dying, to create fiber work that references traditional quilting, but pushes the medium into the realm of representational art. I strive for uncluttered simplicity, and imagery that invites closer inspection and quiet contemplation.
